MEET THE HOSTS
Kate McCoy (she/her) has worked in the entertainment industry for 20+ years, both in front of and behind the camera. Best gig? Working on Mad Men for four seasons. Hardest gig? Playing a dead body. Most embarrassing celebrity encounter? Tom Hanks (your girl was wearing nothing but her underwear…it’s a long story). After several years in Los Angeles, she moved to Chicago and worked in casting before starting her own actor-centric businesses: an audition coaching/taping service (chicagoselftape.com) and an e-commerce site (shoptheatrik.com). In 2022 she combined her knowledge of the entertainment industry and a growing obsession with true crime to create the award-winning podcast Horrorwood: True Crime in Tinseltown. She’s also mom to Frankie, the world’s bestest, cutest dog.
“It's exciting to find nuggets of information that aren’t widely known, like how Marilyn Monroe had to fight off an intruder breaking into her home, or that Joe DiMaggio only spoke one sentence to her during their first dinner together. My favorite part of this process is figuring out how to craft those tidbits into a story that our audience will love.”
Kevin Corbett (he/him/his) is a nonprofit theatre administration professional with a background in front of house management, operations, and audience services. In Chicago, Kevin serves as the Executive Director of Chicago Gay Men's Chorus. Kevin previously worked for The Music Conservatory at Roosevelt University, TimeLine Theatre Company, Actors’ Equity Association, and American Theater Company. Kevin holds an MA in Performance Practices and Research from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (London, UK) and a BA in Theatre from Berea College. In London, Kevin was employed by Ambassador Theatre Group as part of the Front of House Team at the Donmar Warehouse and in several West End theatres. He began his career in theatre as the Assistant to the Producing Artistic Director at the Arundel Barn Playhouse, a summer stock theatre in Arundel, Maine. Kevin has also performed and directed theatre and live performances, including directing two nights of the Festival of Storytelling (2016 & 2017) for the side project theatre in Chicago. He also co-created and performed in Scream Coach (2011-2015) at Links Hall THAW 2015, Latitude Festival 2011, and The Cut Bar at the Young Vic (London, UK).
"I love diving into the dark and fascinating corners of Hollywood. Hosting with Kate makes the journey even more thrilling as we uncover ghostly legends, mysterious deaths and infamous crime sagas. There are so many stories waiting to be told...and we’re here to bring them to life."
